Think of it as Belize's friendly heartland, where the scent of cane fields mixes with the aroma of salbutes from a street vendor. It’s a town rich in Mestizo culture, where the sounds of Spanish and Kriol blend seamlessly, and a wave or a nod from a stranger is just part of the everyday.

For food, we don’t have defined "neighborhoods" in the city center like bigger places, but certain streets buzz with activity. Things to Do and Discover

  You absolutely cannot come to Orange Walk and not experience Lamanai. It's one of Belize's most impressive Maya sites, and the journey there is half the fun. You'll board a riverboat right here in town, cruising down the New River. Keep an eye out for crocodiles, monkeys, and exotic birds along the way. Once you arrive, the towering Mask Temple and High Temple will take your breath away. It's a full-day adventure, steeped in history and natural beauty.

• Explore the New River

  Beyond Lamanai trips, simply spending time along the New River is a must. You can often find local fishermen going about their day or just enjoy the peaceful flow of the water. Boat tours are easily arranged if you want to explore more.

  Orange Walk is a food lover’s paradise, especially for Mestizo cuisine.
