The 'dry season' (May to October) is generally considered the best time to visit, especially the Top End, with pleasant temperatures and less humidity. Many natural waterholes are safe for swimming, particularly in Litchfield and Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Parks, which are well-managed.
